useing adjustable friction savers

there are some things about the adjustable fs i have'nt figured out yet. can it be ajusted from the ground after its been set?

I never set mine from the ground anyway. It stays on the end of my rope and I pull it up once I'm at TIP.

I never set mine from the ground either. Are there any safety reasons not to, or is it just more practical to set it in the tree? I am using a ring and ring Buck. saver with the Tenex prusik ring added.
