Understanding mechanical advantage from the tree climbers view.

I am reluctant to make and show this video as it make me appear as some kind of school teacher and I'm surrounded here by professionals that have tremendous knowledge and experience.
I have always felt that for whatever reason the MA concept is not so easy to understand and noone explains it from the viewpoint of a climber. Sometimes we haul, sometimes we climb on the same configuration.
This address that question about the good 'ol 3:1.
This may or may not be helpful and I know it has been discussed other times.

Concept about counting lines and the difference between a climbing system and a hauling system using the same rope and pulleys.

Here is the rule I want to present.
Count the legs in the system, if the pulley that is connected to the leg that goes to your hand moves toward you……count it. Works for compound and simply pulley systems, most of what a climber or hauler would use.

Skip right to the 3:1 example at 19:35 if you don't want to listen to the other crap.

Any informational vid is good Rich. While most on here are well versed in M.A. there are new folks all the time, and a refresher course for everyone else is never bad.

Yet I am amazed at how many times that 3:1 SRT is argued and I think it is due to the instructional material that is out there. I have not seen the difference between climbing and hauling explained and I thought I would take a stab at it. Also the extra pulleys and gear that are used to make a 5:1 when a compound 6:1 is so easy.
