Any of you like it?

The match Saturday nite between Huerta and Guida was wild!

I think I'm gonna have to get the PPV Dec 29th between Liddel and Silva.

There is a pretty huge excitement about MMA...boxing seems definetly to be on a downslope.

The 140 million worldwide who watched the Mayweather/Hatton welterweight world title fight on Saturday night would have to disagree with you my friend.

Boxing can be beneficial for the soul. As a former amateur boxer I found thumping people very therapeutic.

thank you

The theatre has never really been my type either.

I'm not the biggest fan but I enjoy watching it sometime. I dont really like how it matches opponents who sometimes have totally different styles and backgrounds in fighting, a lot of the fights I see are too lopsided to enjoy. It is fun to see who can take the biggest beating though.

I used to like that aspect the most, but have seen how people start to train to do the same moves and defense styles to be able to compete. That has made it a little boring for me.

MB, I'd like to see you tell Lidel that what he is the champion at is a "lil gay".

Ha! Just a tad too much sweaty male contact for my taste. I'd tap out with the first armpit in my face!

Taitree, I agree that the early tournament style was pretty wild but I think it had to naturally evolve into something a little more manageable and marketable.

Mark I haven't gotten bored with it perhaps cuz I don't see it that much (the reality series doesn't do anything for me) but whenever a major match is on there's always at least one bout which really rocks. I've wondered about the training, how they do it. Have you ever done that kind of training?

It's always fun when there are 2 animals with huge resumes about to square off, and it's hard to believe either one of them can be beaten, to guess which one is gonna leave with his head bowed.

Come on MB, knees to the head, strangleholds, knockouts from hands, feet and knees, prying large joints backward to the breaking point, body slams, whats gay about that?

Welcome Treelearnin, nice to see you on here Pat!

Nice avatar, is that from the Lewis and Clark trek you did?

Oh, that's cool I can dig it. I used to have brown belt in Ju Jitsu - we wore clothes, though. ;)

Mark- I probably wasn't around to watch the sport back then. The big keynote fights are cool, especially when its two guys with very winning records. I give the sport a lot of credit because its growing like crazy. Drinks, fighting and pizza can be pretty tough to beat. I'm glad I get to do a lot of it. I cant say I'm a huge MMA fan yet though.

Thanks Cory. And yup thats a Lewis and Clark pic from somewhere way out on the Missouri.

For is it not true that most cage fights end up in a grapple situation because the people taking part have to follow strict rules which stifle the natural fight capabilities of a person? Like children they grapple for fear of inflicting real pain.

In a streetfight a swift, forceful kick to groin followed by a punch to the nose then an eye gouge would end all need for grappling.......

These fights we see are but a manifestation of man's inability to live in peace.

Most streetfights I have been involved in lasted no more than 5 or 10 seconds due to the fight or flight thesis, and the inability to withstand the excessive pain that comes with being punched or kicked extremely hard in face, groin, ribs, knees etc.

UFC is a pale imitation of a real fight, it is also sadly over commercialized fodder for the masses.

Be at peace and if you have to fight, fight dirty, because 9 times out of 10 its the only way your going to win. Avoid grappling on the ground at all costs.

Thank you

Gary

These are managed contests, not at all the determining bout as to who is the toughest, but the one who follows the rules and adapts his/her style to exploit them. Therefore, 'the best man' wins.

In the real world, it's another story.
