turning a Grillion into a Grigri?

Anyone done this? I find an old Grillion of mine just about useless after I gave up using it as a lanyard adjuster. I'm sure it would have alot more use to me if I could just replace that little round plastic piece with a proper lever.
Any ideas?

Gri-Gri has a spring loaded handle that retracts out of the way of accidental impact, which you probably know. Just a consideration...I once loved the Gri-Gri for my lanyard adjuster, but nothing beats a hitch, since you can truly use the lanyard in Ddrt. Now, I use the Gri-Gri as part of a base anchor on certain occasions and that's about it.
