Truck Colors

What are you thoughts on truck colors? I'm about to add a secound truck to the company and wonder if it's bad to mix colors. eaxample- White pick-up/red dump truck/black estimate truck.

Does the color matter, as long as the name/logo is clear and professional?

I'm tired of the standard white tree truck. Whould it be good to stand out from your competitor with a different color truck? I have 3 main competitors, all white trucks.

Are there certain colors to stay away from? Maybe black is too aggressive?

Just trying to think future, for branding. A third truck will probably happen in another 8months.

thanks for your input

White is cheaper, more available, and doesn't fade. Better resale, too.

Red is supposed to fade the most.

White's Tree Service in Oly has a black chip truck. Not the best IMO.

If you keep your signage consistent, at least that's something.

Two colors is fine with the same logo. Three colors is not consistent enough, even with the same logo. Unless they are variations on a theme, like shades of gray hahaha.

There is a local guy around here with an all black chip truck and I agree with the previous post, it is intimidating.

Pick the colour you like.
Your logo needs to be complimented by it not vice versa.
IMO.
Just pulled this off the internet.

How smart you are to think this through! First, is there a signature color for your logo or company? If so, consider that color. If corporate identity is not an issue, go with your favorite color. If it is a memorable color -- bright red or bright blue, for instance -- you will be remembered for the color of your truck. It will be a part of your personal brand.

No matter what color you choose, make sure your truck is always clean and sharp both inside and out. A messy truck sends a bad message about your attention to detail.

My main work truck is red with a green box and green tarp top and estimate truck is silver. Every one recognizes my truck and waves to me on the road, I think people appreciate a vehicle that is personal or puts a face to a truck.
Hope I have helped.

At the risk of echoing Ropeshield and the other posts...

There is a whole field of psychology devoted to colors and apparently it has some conclusive results.

That said, your colors should be like your logo and branding...when folks see them they should think of your company.

To whit: Green & Yellow on a football jersey adn who do you think of? Red on a Soda can? Purple, Orange & white on an airplane? Brown on a delivery truck?

Same idea applies to your colors.

Just as important is to Keep It Simple! too much info/clutter with logos, offerings, services, numbers and other data will cause folks to ignore your trucks too.

Text font needs to be readable from far away. Check out all the trucks and signs that you can't read til your parked beside em cause they got the cool looking lettering. That's for tattoos.

I went green, with a little yellow

My family sells paint - I had a choice between UPS brown or Trash dumpster green!
