TRT

I’m still finding it a wee bit confusing on how this is used and the benefits thereof. If someone could post a video that would be fantastic. I wish the other hadn’t been taken down as I can’t find it anywhere. I’m always looking to expand my repertoire with climbing
TRT with the Rope Runner combines the benefits of 1:1 movement as in SRS, and the remote anchor retrieval of MRS. With a different rope tool configuration, it can be used as a MRS or SRS completely seamlessly.

Imagine you’re working a series of tall conifers with few lower branches, whether it’s pruning or removal. You can ascend each tree 1:1, and easily transfer onto the next tree and retrieve your anchor.

In the broad crown of a shade tree, the floating anchor point is very handy for positioning. The same for storm work. What’s nice is your less concerned with the incoming vector of two separate system, because the floating anchor is more like a highline with a single system coming to your rope bridge...much cleaner in some cases.

I could go on and on...

Does it all stay together if one rope is slacked? I guess not, but how's it keeping together when ascending on a foot ascender? I read that he used one on each foot, but then he'd have to use them together at the same time, right? Like step with both feet at once, not left, right, left ,right....

Very cool stuff.

If one went left, right, left, right, I should think it would sway the clilmber sideways back and forth as each rope was pulled to its particular side? Both feet at once seems like the only way it would work smoothly up and down, right? Hopefully someone can get a video back up soon. I have two of Richard's removable leather cambium savers and several nice long pieces of 9mm small rappelling rope so I am tempted to try this in my backyard.

With any stretch at all in the 8mm rope, the only way to efficiently alternate steps during ascent with 2 foot ascenders is to have a heavy weight tied to the base of the lines, or have someone below you hold them tight. I can get weird without any of that assistance. Otherwise, using both feet in unison is much smoother.

Paul, my rigging brother! I love how you adapted so much into that anchor for the work you do. That anchor system will forever blow my mind.

I put both ropes in a single ascender the other day

The harken / jet just fit them in , [emoji3]

Yep. Paul made a sweet rope rocket system using a Petzl Shunt. I was just referring to an ascender on each foot.

Truly a shame Johnny Pro’s videos are no longer available. I’ve tried the “ floating anchor” method he uses but I’m struggling to figure out how to set it from the ground and make it all retrievable. I can see the potential of this technique being utilized in the sprawling, decurrent trees I work in. If anyone has any pics/ tips on the setup that would be sick!
