Trolley/winch combo

Not as boring to watch as the title suggests. Just an example of time saved with a little foresight, and the right gear.

A recent job where the brush of 9 firs had to be hauled out from from the bottom of a long, steep back yard.

We combine the Arbtrolley and the portable winch where otherwise either would have been pretty useless on their own.

I'd say we were loaded to about x 6 what a person would physically be able to carry, which was compressed and held with a ratchet strap. I think we did about 12 loads in total, whilst the timber was cut and left as firewood.

Only light duty rigging needed....what a difference wheels make....

Probably saved at least 4-5 hours on the job and what would have been some very sore feet if we'd otherwise had to carry all that stuff out by hand.

Not ideal for with the head-cam, I realise everything looks a little squashed and shaky but it was just easier that way. Thanks

Nice video, I'm always looking to use the portable winch, and with the arbor trolly what a combo! Were in the mountains over here, so cleanup can turn into a nightmare without the right setup. That looked like some tough terrain ... will we be seeing any arbor trolly accessories (such as aggressive wheels; training wheels; self propelled; ride on platform; hitch to connect multiple trolleys together; or a slide in solid base for lets say chips?) Please keep the overall weight and simple design in consideration. Keep those wheels a turning' ... thanks Reg.

If it's a burn day we could always just light it on fire.

I feel like I walked a mile...or more...in Reg's boots!

using machinery to lift heavy loads makes so much sense. Brush dragging is,..uh...a drag!

When I had my ATV we'd do similar setups. A wheeled cart wasn't in the fleet so we skidded piles or used a huge plastic tub for chunks.

Reg. Is the Arbor Trolley being sold in the U.S.? I can't remember.

Did the nose of the trolly dig into the ground when being winched? Or, did you load it heavier behind the axles to keep it balanced?

I can see how that was the perfect method for the job.

And the 1st person view was a little shakey...

But, no worries.

Try Stein USA.

It dug in a little when we hit the very abrubt parts of the incline but like you said we did set the brush a little further back than normal so its wasn't an issue....where normally we'd always set the balance right over the wheels. Thanks

Good work on that Reg, what a pain a yard like that is. Were the trees cut for view clearance?

I didn't actually speak to anyone on the day Gord but seems as they'd been topped before, probably yes
