Tricky Removal

I attach behind the bucket's midpoint, then put a blanket on the top sharp edges to run the bull line over.

Side to side wobble can be a problem for long speed line runs. But not short ones like in your alley, which was what, 30-40 foot max?

(: ok, you win this one. was that the same job?

Very familiar with the side to side swing of the speedline, Jomoco. Early on in the biz, my carpentry skills got better from an eave I had to fix because of it. And that's the ONLY thing I've ever broken in tree work....seriously....

So you've never felled a tree?

Ha ha...Sorry, neither "young" fella, nor "young" feller.

And of course I was kidding about not breaking anything else whilst working trees. Just lucky (blessed) that none of my mistakes were that big of a deal, nobody got hurt, and I learned from every one of them.

Had I known TL could get a bobcat into that alley?

I would've speedlined that spar down onto the front bucket.

Bobcats make excellent speed line anchors.

Curious as to how you would have set this up-I'm seeing a lot of freeplay when the piece comes off.

Ya, same job. Luckily that one house had a driveway otherwise the whole tree would have had to have gone through the 1st floor. Treehumper compared my first big removal to, "taking ones first dive off the cliffs in Acapulco".

I learned a lot in those three days.

Yep, we're not far from Savannah. Actually took my certification exam there. Though I passed on the first try, the Tree ID portion was tricky for me. Most of our trees are the same but there were a few on the test I wasn't so familiar with. Need to take it again. Didn't keep up the CEUs.

If you haven't been to Charleston yet you need to check it out. Pretty awesome place! Of course I'm biased.
