We had a ton of trouble getting consistent quality in the Cougar product so we stopped carrying it.

Treestuff drop ships for OMBWarehouse. Having some difficulties after getting the wrong chipper anvil drop shipped by Treestuff on behalf of OMB where I placed my order.

There were a lot of complaints and shipping problems. The splicers hated it as well. We had one load of it all show up totally soaking wet and stinking and it was a total loss.

Ok, thanks. I was just wondering. I don't trust the OMB warehouse link that shows up from Google search since they are not climbers - I want to buy from a climbing company. I will use a different brand, will give me something to compare against since Cougar is the only 24-strand that I have experience with.

Yale 11.7 is an awesome line, but doesn't stay round as well as cougar. I think Yale safari line is comparable. Someone correct me of I'm way wrong

Nick, why did the splicers hate it? Thanks for the info on this.

I think @Worthaug has some input on this in another thread, moving forward from cougar blue. I think he's going with a very very low elongation line, and it may be Yale KMIII Max. Reed knows rope construction better than anyone I'm aware of.

I'll probably be starting with Reed's suggestion. If you do, note that you've got to adapt your climbing to a style suited to low-elongation lines.

What do you mean by this

Another thing to consider about low elongation lines is that they might make it more likely that a smaller or weaker suspension point will break out, since less of the force of a drop is being absorbed by the rope. It might be compensated for by using many suspension points, hopefully loaded in compression.

KM III Max is relatively low elongation while you're climbing, but it has a nylon core and great elongation in a fall scenario... it's a well engineered rope. Up to about 500 lbs. or so, it feels like a typical static kernmantle... but above that, it starts stretching and it's very noticeable. There's much more static lines out there, and much more stretchy ones... this one is very well balanced, though. Static when you need it to be, but decent fall mitigation.

It's 32-strand, and pretty slick when new. So, maybe not perfect for everyone or every device. It really shines with a RW setup. Mechanicals tend to creep, though, until the rope's coating wears off.

@CutHighnLetFly is right, though... this is stuff that can make a big difference, but it's certainly not something you want to rely on. That TIP might not look so safe if you imagine that you're going to use a steel cable on it, and ask a 600-lb. gorilla to climb up there. That's the way I look at them. You don't want your asshole to be the last thing that passes through your mind shortly before death.

I get what you both are saying but I feel like one would be unwise to think if they have some elongation on their line they are safe from small falls or that their TIP that was dicey would be less likely to break.

Some of these ways of reducing forces exist on a continuum, as part of a system. Coming from a rock climbing and caving background, I'm very acquainted with ropes that elongate more and less than arb ropes. The amount of elongation matters, for falls. But, like your reticence suggests, @CutHighnLetFly , it's only a single part of that system and not enough on its own.

Lol...havent seen the other thread huh?
Yes I'm experiencing the same thing even when you call you get a machine says Jambo I'm experiencing the same exact thing you don't even get the guys that used to work at tree stuff anymore I just placed the order yesterday so I called to change my order and I can't even get a person I get a machine leave a message and someone will get back to me I've left two messages and the past two days and still no one has got back to me yet I'm beginning to think tree stuff sucks go with Bartlett
