Wait a second...some of you are blaming TS/ST for being sales tax collectors?!

That's not anything that any business owner that i know wants to be. This is an issue that the local government, city, state or Feds. regulate. When the tax authority tells a company to collect taxes they're obligated to collect.

There should be some sort of uproar about businesses doing the work of the government but not being compensated. Don't direct your ire at this merger...misdirected complaining.
We get compensation for it...... $10 per month off of our monthly filling. Ha!!

lucky you! When I had my company i didn't get one cent for being the tax collector. What someone explained to me was that the legislature figured that the companies got to 'use' the tax revenues they collected as 'their's' for the few days per month so that was compensation. might be fine for a big box company but the few dollars I collected sure didn't amount to much.

Bigger companies get a bigger discount..... The benefit of us holding the tax collected probably amounts to $0.00 for a ten year span. What a joke. It probably costs us $1000 a year to manage their tax money. Vote Libritaritan and hopefully it will change :-D

This also happened in California - they've sent us a couple letters to review all our purchases and report and pay anything that fell through the cracks. LMFAO!! Umm...really?

We have tax added to most larger online retailers now. But, as a state, you are talking about billions in lost revenue.

Luckily, whatever purchase I make for the business- gets written off as a business expense on the back end.

I've always kinda snickered at the stingy business owners who are worried about such small margins on equipment purchases - like saving $30 on a $300 rope. I, as an owner, know that I'll be making money off the equipment by its second use and I get to write off the cost anyway.

As for the guy who is just a climber trying to get the best gear for the best buy, I totally get the need for discounts, no sales tax, and slightly lower margins. $30 dollars of savings means gas in the truck, a utility bill, or food on the table.

Many small companies do this. The effort on the part of the owners to get to this stage is staggering and takes a toll on their personal life. It's at a stage in its growth that will take an even larger investment of capital and time to continue its growth. The opportunity to sell and walk away with a nice nest egg and your life back is all too tempting.

Is it a victory for Sherrill? In someways or just the ability to stay relevant in a competitive business.

Every state probably has a Vermeer dealer...every vermeer dealer is like a Sherrill dealer...so I'm guessing therefore required to charge sales tax now.

I am assuming that the "physical presence" of the Vermeer store in your state makes Treestuff purchases essentially an in-state sale. Glad to be in Oregon where there is no sales tax. Hope I don't see sales tax added.

I've seen this mentioned a few other spots so I wanted to chime in real quick. Vermeer stores are not property of Sherrill, and luckily have no bearing on the states that require us to collect sales tax.

I got a little laugh when upon placing an order via T.S. and checking confirmation email, I very shortly after got a we miss you come back 10% promo email via S.T.

That's because you haven't shopped at the SherrillTREE.com webstore recently. The email from Sherrill had nothing to do with your purchase at TreeStuff.

Our email lists and campaigns have not and will not be mixed, you can be sure of that fact.

My money is that TStuff ceases to exist at some point. Why nurture a lower priced competition...that you own?

Anyhoo, Bonner, you now work for Sherrill Tree.

I like most others will miss the discounted prices, amazing customer service and attention to detail conveyed by Luke.

I once got sent the wrong 150' line that was quite expensive. They sent me another and TOLD ME TO KEEP THE ONE ALREADY SENT TOO. Then as usual they showered me with small gifts and nick nacks and all came at blinding speed to my door.

Ill take that bet David, how much you want to lay? Ill give you 5:1 odds on $1000 that your wrong. You want to set the time period? More?

No lie, you take that bet you are getting robbed. I'm not a gambler, I only lay out on a sure thing.

We aren't going anywhere. TreeStuff is profitable and growing at a fantastic rate. Sherrill is profitable and also growing on its own, why would we mess with that? Its simple risk vs reward, there is no incentive to change anything.

@bonner1040 this is good to here. I've spent a bunch with you guy's lately and I'm not done. I only hope TreeStuff flourishes and you and the rest of staff still reap some rewards. Question .... the shopping cart icon disappeared. I now have to add an item to pull it up .... sounds fishy. :ROFLMAO:
Seriously whats up with that? All else is good. You guys rock! More orders to come as I am not a happy ST customer.
