Feels like a gimmick to me. I once put in an order for an item from a different company. One that holds an exclusive with the manufacturer. It was drop shipped from the distributor absolutely covered in branding for the company who has the distributor deal.
My take was they were making it very clear and trying to draw business away from the other retailer who I purchased though. It’s one thing for a single sticker placed on the box but this box with gift wrapped with stickers and even had a coupon inside the box.

Back in treestuff's day, I bought a fawk ton of gear from them. And I mean a TON. I had an order through Sherrill for a speed line kit. When I got it, a cheap figure 8 was substituted for the small porty I was supposed to get. There was another thing or 2, that was amiss. I don't recall those details. The porty burned me deep. I wanted that kit for the speed line setup and the porty alone. I never bothered with a complaint at all. I just did a hard boycott and never looked back. When treestuff sold, I felt betrayed but it didn't end my relationship at that time. They flushed themselves down the toilet after the merger and business was never the same. They had new guidelines to follow at the expense of their loyal customer base. I've never forgotten that.

The web page not telling that things are not in stock until after the order has gone through has burned me too many times. Wesspur, Arbsession, and Honeybros are my go to retailers. If Treestuff would truly show what is in stock before you hit order, that would likely make people give them more chances.

Kinda like a free discount on a fixed price quote. A company here offers 10% discounts for basically anyone that asks on their bid. Easy to mark up and just say one is offering a discount on the already inflated price.
