the bark and the base sure looks like Ginko to me too. Top seems too numerous with little twigs and twigs too thin though.

but i can't come up with anything better than Ginko either.

yeah, looking at it again, it's gotta be ginko, look how those two lowest large limbs come off the main trunk.

Ginko, but EZ got it.

Ah...I told you all it was an EZ tree. And so it is....Ginko biloba. This is the largest ginko we have on campus. It's a male thank God. We had to remove two famales that were about half that age two years ago because they were a nasty mess to clean up, and people would complain about the smell on their shoes. Imagine sitting next to someone in a closed room for an hour and a half who had walked through a mess of Ginko balls.

At the high school I went to in St. Louis, the campus quad had Ginkgo trees along a path that led up to the cafeteria. About half of the trees were female, and when they would produce fruit, my jerk- friends and I would kick all of the fruit into a big pile and stomp on them like they were grapes.

Had the most unpleasant vomit-like smell, and we would trudge into the cafeteria and act like nothing was wrong.
