So it's a red oak, but not rubra, nor falcata. And probably the tallest we got.

Oldoak, I used to think this one was a Shumard until I was corrected. Shumard might be the tallest but I'm not sure I've seen one in the wild.

TreeLogic, there is a park in Memphis that has the national champion Shummard. It is or was(??) 170' tall. When you compared the height of this one with Tulip Poplars was when I thought of the Shummard. I've only run across one Cherrybark Oak and it was a small one and hard to relate to the size of this one. Good selection for the thread though.
