Trees from a distance

Not Cryptomeria. I thought someone would guess Pinus.......it's not Pine either. The tree in the photo is about a century old. Have a 3 yr old in my yard....only 2 ft tall.
 
Is this too distant?

Ah, so there is a difference. Tom, you could be right. Forgive me I didn't know there was a difference but I looked it up and can do a closer study of the tree tomorrow. What exactly do I look for?
 
LP bark is overall more greenish, and the tree is typically wider with no central lead. Sycamore will be more upright and more obviously white, will exhibit more signs of anthracnose, specifically dead twigs/witches' brooms, and the leaves are a little larger and have deeper serrations.

Adkpk,... I only said 'Platanus' cause i wasn't sure if it was one or the other...

Here is an exotic I saw today.

Yep, a Magnolia which is not uncommon, just not native to this country...

(Magnolia denudata or Yulan Magnolia)
