Trees from a distance

I didn't kill this thread did I? For the sake of keeping things moving I'll give a hint. You're most likely to find this tree along the Pacific coast. So anyone from out west should be familiar with this species.
 
I'm stumped here, especially now knowing it's a west coast tree...

I can't even tell for sure if it's alternate branching or not. Some twigs look almost whorled, a bit like Phellodendron amurense.

I'm gonna guess Acer macrophyllum?
 
You're on fire! Unfortunately it was winter when I took the picture and all of the leaves had fallen. I think the leaf would have been a sure give away. Excellent guess.
