Trees from a distance

Actually, I went to be early, pretty confident that my last guess was correct. :)

This tree is confusing... It really does look like a cornus/olive/viburnum/alder-birch/hawthorn! The family clue is bugging me, too...

Despite the clue, I am going to guess Ptelea trifoliata. Just a guess.

Not Parrotia.
Not Ptelea. (which has also been posted, thanks to me

Some Euonymus species within the Celastraceae Family ?

I've got to go out to an afternoon job so this is no fair because by the time I get back 'you-know-who' will have tagged it!!

Tom has the 'time-zone' advantage here

Not Euonymus.
Not Cornus.

The photo is a bit misleading - it looks as though it's some kind of specimen. It's not.

This tree is total garbage, not a single redeemable feature.

That's funny, I flipped past it about 20 times in my Audubon guide and never even considerd it... Audubon field guide lists the leaves as 'mostly opposite.' I didn't pick up on that.

What guide were you using, Jeff? :)

I do some veggie management, as soon as he said total garbage it was a dead giveaway! Lol

I had actually considered it earlier but figured no way, had to be some exotic specimen tree. I'd say their only redeeming quality is they are tough to kill!

I go mostly on memory too, that's why I suck at this game! Still fun though! :-p

I'm not complaining, im barely over 3 years new to climbing and arb-stuff, so I'm pretty thrilled with my gains so far!

Hey Xman,

I think Tom was just kidding about the guide book...

Although, I do know he has some special computer with high-resolution features for viewing tree photos that I want to get some day
