Trees from a distance

Chopper, you got it. Tree#1 = Ficus microcarpa. I know of it as a F. microcarpa nitida, and I sometimes see it listed as F. nitida. But...yeah- that's it.

That hackberry looks a lot like it's cousin the sugarberry (Celtis laevigata). The bark does not appear to be all warty like a hackberry but smooth like a sugarberry.

if your asking me, yes. It is a very common tree, and almost every Arborist I give this one to, gets it confused with its close cousin.

Spot on Matty! How did you get it?

Every Arbosist I give this test to in the field alwys guesses Red Oak, Quercus rubra. They are very similiar at a glance.

I just go with the obvious 7-9 lobes compaired to 9-11 lobes for rubra. Of course not always true. I got it wrong on an ID exam two times and ever since I haven't got them mixed up
