My new Tree Motion saddle doesn't have the chainsaw hanger / hook like I'm used to having. I feel insecure about the leather with holes cut and own hanger installed. Seems weak. Are my concerns justified ?

I use the large caritool and hook it on the webbing too. I also deadend the lanyard to a separate biner as well. The thing that is nice is that you can put it wherever you like and use what ever you like.

that stuff is so strong. don't worry too much, its the same as conveyor belt material. I wouldn't worry about it.

I have mine on a normal non locking biner that is through the holes and they haven't even stretched out from use. I would agree with others and not worry to much about it.

Sorry to spoil the news, but I had an accessory biner through just a bottom hole in the belt material. It tore out a couple of weeks ago. I was coming over a medium sized limb and as the saw dropped off the limb it fell into the lanyard and the backed up connection. I definitely have my saw biners going through a wider section of the material now instead of a singe hole.

I wouldnt put anything thru just a single hole thats has any weight .Ive been using caritools for years and never had and issue.

I girth my saw lanyard thru the rear ring then short hang the saw on caritool. If I'm ascending a long way or coming down I'll just let it hang straight down from rear ring.

Yeah, I wouldn't hang anything from a single hole. I have a regular non locking carabiner hanging through the spot where a caritool would go. I've got one on either hip and they've been there as long as I've had the saddle (4 and 1/2 years) with no problems.
