Treehumper down and getting back up.

That's a very good point KevinS. I thought about this afterward and imagined that the wood fibres at the site of the defect were individually failing leading to a cascading effect.

All in all, I've spent some of my time well. I led a gala fundraiser to achieve it's best showing yet, raising $112K for the Hackensack Riverkeeper. Wrote an article that may or may not show up in the TCIA's March issue and am doing a seminar at the Garden State Tree Conference. I helped my daughter with her photography classes, modelling and as her assistant (read driver).

Now, I just need to get back on a tree!

Great article, Rob... good to see you're getting better. In 1984 I was in a motorcycle accident (drunk ran a stop sign and plowed into me) that broke my tibia in half and sent it out the side of my leg. I spent two and a half years in casts. No metal in there, anymore, so I can go through the airport detectors without incident, now. You're very right, though... the effects extend to everyone around you, and especially to your bank account. The constant headache of receiving bills for stuff that was already paid for, having to deal with that, went on for almost ten years.

Just get back on your feet and it will all fade away, eventually. The physical therapy didn't help me much, so I bought a mountain bike and rode the hell out of it. Atrophy went away and the bones actually healed better and stronger from the mild workouts of riding the bicycle.

Thanks. Yes, I find riding the stationary bike good. I'm looking for a wind trainer to hook up my bike to. If anyone has one to lend, I'd appreciate it!

After consulting with the doctor and getting the ok from the insurer I've climbed a couple of trees. The latest was doing a good deed on Easter Sunday, rescuing a cat. Luckily the cat was quite amenable to being saved as she pretty much sat there waiting for me to get her.

It was a good feeling being up a tree again!

Best PT is work IMO
Agreed! The trick is not taking two steps forward and then ending up 3 steps back. The big challenge is going back and being productive through the whole week, then sustaining that into the month and then the year. No real margin of error now.

Met with the new PT yesterday and am pleased that they are really going to tackle all aspects of the issues, core work, stability, strength, stamina, persistent pain issues in soft tissue.

Cool PC, I'm looking forward to getting that!

It's official! Back to work on Monday. We'll really see how well this has come along then. I'm doing another 2 wks of PT on a specific problem with tightness in a tendon and muscle then a visit with the doc on the anniversary date of the accident.
Today I also did my first ride on my bike. Human powered that is. 9 mile easy pedal up to Piermont then back with some friends. Felt good!
