Treehouse

That is fricking AWESOME!

It could use a few more windows. I wonder what those russkis are saying

How do you tell someone to "go sit in the corner" ? /forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

This treehouse was along a road in St. Paul. Would you let anyone play in it?

those are very cool... the first one cost a fortune i'm sure! makes me look at the treehouse that i built for my kids and think of some improvements... But hey i did not see a 200' zip-line from any of those... (ok the zip-line is for me!)

Great my kids saw the houses and now want one. I can not get my kids out of the talk now. So I get to see what I can do( heck if all goes wrong I can sleep in the treehouse not on the sofa). Those where great houses. Gives me an idea on how to have a bissinesse office for our soon comp.(climb the ladder and watch your head as you use the zip line to get to the trucks)

This is one I built for my kids. I built this about 1990 for my daughter (then 7) and son (then 4 -- he is being a zombie on the rope). The picture is from 1993 when he had a bunch of friends over.

It has a trapdoor you reach through the chain of tires (the tires slow 'em down when they tumble thru)...a slide thru the side (with a latchable door), a pulley on a lateral board to lift in big buckets of sleeping bags, tater chips, and other necessary victuals.

All windows were netted except the front side...the safety net was for the inevitable fall. They never admitted anyone fell into the net...probably because I let them know that getting netted was the least of their worries.

We had flower planters on the front with a gutter above and a funnel from that to water the plants with rain off the tin roof...oh, and a hammock inside for ME.

My daughter remembers sleeping in it during rainstorms and hearing the rain on the tinroof...she also got mad at us once and moved into the treehouse for about a week...took big plastic bins of food, clothes and personal stuff (books, lights, dishes from a flea market, etc.)

When the wind blows it still creaks like an old sailing ship.

The TH is still there, needs some reworking...Alex now has a 5 month old...we plan to get it ready for him.

Well to be technical, the stump is concrete. The actual support comes from the 4 steel columns inside the stump.

That "stumphouse" cost 106 grand to construct, dont hate too much /forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

shweeet! love that last shot. cool to see grey hair up there too - who says treehouses are for kids? i helped install the initial rigging for a 50 ft glue-lam beam to be hoisted into place on a tree house in progress a few weeks ago. promises to be an amazing project. the attachment method will be garnier limbs, the house will be 700 sq ft, use 7 (8?) trees and have a crazy view of treetops and puget sound. and the price tag is quite a bit more than $106k. yeah, some people just have too much money - but what a cool way to spend it! i'll see if i can talk the lead guy into posting a thread on it.

Here is a none invasive treehouse, it's the best I've ever seen.
First picture is the shot of the non invasive method of installing.

Sorry, But that is most definately NOT non invasive. I had the pleasure of inspecting and removing some of the SvenskTradVard85 Cables a few years ago. They used a padded strap, not a chain with a bit of rubber mat, and the cambium damage under the padding was horrendous.

That is one cool tree house but I will second the comment about non invasive. It may not require any penetrations but there are likely to be some problems includng cambium damaqe.

I am also interested if any engineering was done for the structure? It will create a very big wind load that was not there before.

As some of you may know I have been looking at a lot of tree houses and was one of the folks that developed the Garnier limbs now in use.

I would love to hear of other arborists tree house contacts. And am available for consulting on same.

Attached picture is of a handicap access tree house built by Forever Young.
