Tree pictures

I've got one up at the park like that... big widowmaker hanging up in not just the tree it broke off of, but one end is in a nearby tree. In my mind, this is probably extra dangerous. The movement of either tree in the wind could send it down, and it's big enough to crush a human. I volunteered to remove it before someone gets hurt. A lot of little kids hang out in that park.

these are two I took before the first ascent day 1.

Awesome picture/tree. I have to ask, because I see a lot of nice looking, large eucalyptus removed. Do they become hazardous when theyre larger like that, or do people just not like trees that large near their homes?

We dont have any around here, but we do have certain species that people take down once they get too large because of decay issues, disease, etc.

same situation here, some species like this sugar gum have inherent issues.
this particular tree failed a major leader into the high voltage primaries and across the roadway.
on inspection of the failed section and the other major unions it was decided that the time to remove had arrived and some hustle would be required before the next failure occurred.
main reason was the amount of vehicle and pedestrian traffic followed by the children's park just opposite the tree and then the residential houses under the tree itself.
wind loading in that area also played a part in the removal assessment.
hope that covers it.
Ben.
