Tree climbing road trip

theres a section of old podocarp forest in the uraweras which will blow minds , 50 meter plus rimu and 60 plus kahikateas on the way to a hidden lake surrounded by kaihiks with massive buttresses looking like they are on stilts. its a great walk , maybe about an hour or so.

A few friends and I did the west coast of the usa last year and climbed some absolute beasts , such a cool mission.
If this gains legs id like to know.
I'm heading back home (NZ) over christmas I know a few guys with some epic knowledge of the forests and previous (Legit) experience climbing some of the giants.

Wow, that sounds awesome. 50m rimu is amazing and only an hour walk is impressive. I'll keep in touch. Some ancient virgin forest would be a trip topper.

Been thinking early Feb near Waitangi Day for the road trip. I'd be cool if you were here.

I'll be in Bay of Islands over Christmas.
