Travel to Alaska?

I have a question for all you travelers out there....

I'm trying to plan a trip up to Alaska early in February to visit some friends in Anchorage. I was wondering if you guys/girls had any recommendations on things to see, places to eat, stuff to do etc....

So far, the only plan is to go skiing up by Girdwood. I would like to do some flightseeing around Denali park, but that may prove to be a little costly($250 per person per hour!)

Any insight would be appreciated!

might be a bit cold fer some outdoor sports but I would say to keep the vbears at a distance and the fish up close. and watch fer those lectric cars, they are plugged in EVERYWHERE up there, specially in winter. ;)

Flying to Anchorage or driving up?

If you're driving, I remember a roadhouse along the way with some nice hot springs down the road. Somewhere between Whitehorse and Ft. Nelson. I know that's a long piece of road but a more detailed map than my atlas should have them located. The night I stayed there it was about twenty below F. Made for a nice dip. Clear sky...

The train trip to Fairbanks is nice.

Be sure to make a trip report when you get back.

We are planning on flying over there. The plane tickets are pricey, up over $400-$500, hopefully that will drop as departure approaches. I was reading about taking a plane ride around Denali park or along the coast. That sounds cool too, but again pricey.
