too much pull on that limb, not enough push

two days ago i was up in the canpoy of a beech tree. the tree used to to be a forest tree, but urban sprawl put it into someone's backyard. the specs calld for a crown cleaning. i was at the top and making a cut with a wooden pole saw. i had made my face cut followed by a back cut and the limb did not fall. the limb seemed small enough so i placed the back hook of the pole saw around the limb and pulled to make it fall. the limb came off with such force that i pulled it into my own knee, between the knee cap and the calf muscle. a swollen leg later thought i should not underestimate the stregth of dead beech and should have pushed away instead of pulled toward with that pole saw
