Toledo area climb

Dig it man, I'll be there. Can we shoot for afternoon? I'll be in church in the morning, but after that I should be free.

Anyone interested in doing a cookout over there for dinner? I think if we get enough people that should be fun.

For those of you who are un-aware of this tree, it is AWESOME! Huge spread, not super tall, the TIP's are around 60 - 65 feet, but it has been pruned out to a pro comp level. An absolutely majestic tree that is free to climb in a nice park.

This is a great practice tree for everyone who wants some actual TCC simulation. In the past we have set up excellent AR, speed belay, footlock, and of course work climb. This tree has it all.

If you live within driving distance, stop by and check this tree out.

Google map search "woodland park, perrysburg Ohio, 43551" That is where the tree is, you simply can't miss this tree.

Thanks

Excellent, cant wait to meet ya Greg, finally! BTW, Ill have my grill and propane, plus cooking utensils, also ice water and lemonade. If anyone wants to bring somethingelse, cool. John, I think you mentioned bringing some meat, but let me know if you want me to bring something. Ill try to dig up some chips from my dad, the Frito Lay guy! Otherwise, cant wait to see everyone there!

Yep, I will bring some burgers, dogs, buns ketchup. If someone wants to bring some desert type of thing then I believe we might have an actual cook out type of deal-io.

C-ya all there

I'll be in the Jeep, not my A6

OllllO

To all who couldnt attend, it was phenominal! I think we had 8 people in the tree, ton of lines, did a practice work climb, nice cookout (expert grillman I might add), all in all a great day. I would love to do it again very soon. Thanks for an awesome day to all who were there.

Just got home after 2.75 hr drive.

Great climb !

We had the full range of climbers ..... from "Treebing" to some very young "walk-in" kids from the park who just wanted to try. Matt C. was a very good instructor.

The oak tree was also very good for various climber levels.
It's wide & fairly open w/ a few easy "limb walks" for those just learning. Other limbs were more challenging.

I think everyone saw a few new pieces of equip. &/or techniques.

I'll definately go up again.

Thanks Toledo !

Darn right, what a great time!

Thanks for everyone for coming out, especially the out of towners.

I personally had a great time.

Kevin, do you have any photos from the event you can post???

ill get on it! we should have done some group shots. Greg, Im bummed, i dont have a single shot of you. Ill work on that tonight, when can we do this again?

Treebing !

Not to worry.

I was just thinking of changing my Tree Buzz name to "Tree Sloth" ................ very slow, frequently upside-down, but persistant ! ".

Chow !
Greg

HEY GUYS JUST GOT BACK ON THE BUZZ AND WAS LOOKING FOR YOUR POSTS. I'M SURE GLAD MATT CALLED ME TO COME OUT FOR THIS CLIMB ONLY THING THAT SUCKS IS I COULDN'T STAY LONGER. NEXT TIME I'LL BE IN FOR THE ALL-DAYER! WHAT A GREAT TREE AND A GREAT DAY TO CLIMB IT ON.

Adam, GOOD LORD! What in the world is that thing you have in the picture? Did you snag that thing in the Maumee River? I have always wondered what lurks in the depths of that thing.....

Anywho...so glad you made it to the climb, it was great to see you again, you missed a nice little cookout. Shawn is an excellent chef.

So yea, to second everyone else's remarks, doing another one of these would be absolutely fantastic.

Keep in mind that there is a whole other wonderful oak tree within about 200 feet of the big one. Matt and I have been eyeing that one for a while now. This fall I could see us taking a day and cleaning it up for some serious climbing.

The next big event might be this fall.......

FYI on the Cleveland climb idea. If you find some good trees in any of the Cleveland Metroparks let me know and I will clear the way for you to climb on them.

I have contacts there at the absolute highest levels of management who can make this happen.

Wow John in the metroparks? Thats nice, I've heard there are some monster oaks in Cleveland. Maybe we should plan a big trip there and do some serious snooping around for some monsters. There are some pretty good cliffs around the rivers maybe we could do some monster zips or something. I will probably go climbing this weekend, not sure what day yet. I've got a couple guys from work coming down to practice footlocking. We have our climbing comp for work coming up in 2 weeks and these guys want to practice. I'll give Matt a call and see what he's doing.
