Todays morning job

Makes me think its not so bad here after all. Coldest night last so far this winter. Probably only -3C and virtually no wind. I'm sure its worse up north but us southerners have it fairly easy. My truck probably won't start either but thats cos its rubbish!

Major 100km wind blew through town yesterday.................we had to go out in -27C and take trees off of buildings today. It was blowing snow most of the day.......so work conditions down right sucked! I had to use major ether to get the boom truck started.........wasn't expecting going out and working today so it wasn't plugged in. At least the hydraulics in the boom worked fine. Thank the good Lord for a hot tub to warm up in after work!

Was working this morning, at 9am the temp was 32c below with the windchill. Work is a great thing all I needed was 2 T shirts a sweater and some polypropelene long johns to kick up a sweat.

In our defense, when its cold here its also wet. Even if its not raining theres often a mist which doesn't clear so everything gets damp and that keeps you feeling cold. You guys can probably have a dry day with plenty of sunshine but cold temps. I'd prefer that. I've been ice climbing in a t shirt before and as long as the sun is out all's well. The sun broke through the mist for about 3.5 minutes today and I nearly broke a sweat!

It's not that bad cause it's a dry cold...............I have heard that for years. Cold is cold period. No chance that I am going outside today in a T-shirt at -22C. /forum/images/graemlins/smilie_schreck.gif

It's not the cold, it's the humidity that gets ya! /forum/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Just like the whole "dry heat" thing. I say go stick your head in an oven and tell me that it feels comfy!

Rupe, you're not just whinning, it's true that the wet makes it harder to handle the cold, but cold is still cold either way.

When I was in Utah, 0 degrees F seemed to feel the same as +15 degrees F back on the CT coast.

The worst part about negative degree temps here in Michigan is that it's almost certain to bring the "lake-effect" machine back to life. Sunday night I got caught in a lake-effect blizzard that put down 20+ inches of snow in n-w Indiana.
If I were smart I'd just go buy a snowmobile and enjoy it.

Mark, what sort of temps do you get in NJ in January? My sister is going there for a month and her company is setting her up in a house near the beach, she seems excited about that!! Should I be the one that tells her not to take her swimsuit?!!
