Today....

Another no chipping, move some logs and grapple-worth brush to the side, kinda job of my employee zapping some saplings in the drain field, me dicing up an invasive cherry laurel in the wood, with the real work being shortening of the 40' snag to 15' after the twin grand fir wildlife snag failed on the new fence and drain field.

Dual SRS. No tying to the snag!20250807_163602.webp20250807_163604.webp20250807_165147.webpimage000001(4).webp20250807_180250.webp

I got back from a trip last week and still struggling to catch up from the time away. It's nice to take a break once in a while, but when you return you are so far behind....

A few random pics from the week, taking a dead top in a tree that was full of ants 100 feet up, a nice orca visit right next to the ferry dock, got the Husky battery hedge trimmer which is handy for certain kinds of brush, and working with an excavator on a project.

Did that give you pause when you started making the face cut and discovered how soft it was inside?

That orca looks huge, but I don’t really know enough about them to imagine its size based on a pic.

Spotted the Yates screamer to kill some newtons in case you take a fall ;) First example in a pic I've seen. Bueno!
My PSP was more than a few feet away, set with a BigShot. Looked good, tested good, but was deflected on the down-strand by a bunch of dead branched. Once I got to the PSP, adjusted the PSP even better, and cleared the deflections below, it was great. HTP is super static. I floated from side to side of the spar to chase the cuts a bit so I didn't have to bring up a 28" bar. A great time for a dual SRS, no lanyard.

Nah, it was a small enough top and being dead, light as well. The small amount of wood still in the corners was enough to safely direct it. As for the orcas, it's a parent and a baby/child, so that's why the one looks so big in relative terms.

I used to have trouble with sideways pics. iPhone. I’d have to edit the pic. Rotate sideways. Save. Edit again, rotate upright, save, upload. Then the problem went away on its own for me but it’s been popping up for others on another forum.

The GSOB is killing almost everything up there. Suggestions welcome. Working on solar kiln ideas to turn lemons into lemonade...maybe transport the trees (covered) down to me where there are no oaks to infect, let them cook in the hellish desert heat (can cover with black plastic) and then firewood and sell - but the wood market is up there so back n forth doesn't pencil.
