Today....

Another wonderful spur boot to check out is the La Sportiva Makalu. Just doesn't get any better in a pair of spurs. They run a little narrow and short so a 1/2 size bigger than your normal size is recommended.

A friend of mine offered to let us stay the weekend at his Airbnb if I did some deadwood removal in the Sugar Maple trees around the house. The first tree had a large dead leader that was about 20" diameter where I stopped cutting. The tree over the garage was huge and healthy and had a normal amount of deadwood for a 100+ year old Sugar Maple. The last tree was very sketchy looking, with both leads missing bark on one side of them most of the way up and huge oval cutouts from Pileated woodpeckers all over as well as cavities all the way up. I told him I wasn't willing to climb that one so I got a rigging line into it from the ground and we yanked the top 12 feet out of it from the ground. That one is hidden behind the tree in the first photo. Seeing how hard we actually had to pull to get it to break put his mind at ease because it was right over the driveway. Here's some before and after pictures and one my wife got of me up in the tree next to the garage.

Was the stay worth it?

And a shot of the view, looking across a big field to the horizon where you can sort of see Little Traverse Bay.
Since my DMM swivels and Director swivel carabiners are being held hostage in Wales, I have been using that Camp 3-way on my bridge as you have it set up. Comes in handy for a lot of things and I am more than happy I gave it a try.
That said, I will probably go back to what I had set up once my gear (if my gear ever) returns. I was comfortable with it, and it offered me a few options the Camp does not. But I do like it.

Was the stay worth it?
Just barely hahahaha. There are about 20 of these trees on the 2-acres that the house sits on and he thought I would be able to do all of them in a weekend, which is insane. I spent 6.5 hours working on Saturday to get these three sorted out and we agreed he had got his money's worth after he saw the amount of work involved. Fortunately for him I love doing this.
