Today....

For the work you do, you can't afford to buy cheap boots. How many years of wear is that?

And they ain't cheap, $460! Lasted almost two years though, which surprised me. Alpine Expert GTX, they are crampon compatible mountaineering boots which is great for my work needs: Made for lots of walking, stiff sole good for standing on spurs, narrow profile good for spurless climbing to fit into crotches. I work on a decent amount of steep, loose slopes and I've even toe-pointed and kicked steps in to get uphill. So far, they are the best boots I've ever owned.

Eh, might as well share a few more new photos so long as I'm replying to the thread. Unique rock formations, up high, woodchip-lasagna, rotten big leaf maple.

A 65' doug fir top, still clearing space to build my new shop:

And a pileated woodpecker (biggest woodpecker species in north America) going to town on a grand fir habitat-snag I made at my property... 3 years ago? It's amazing, thing went from a normal/solid looking snag/trunk down to just 2/3 diameter in large parts and a HUGE pile of chips at the base in just a weeks time. They can sense the insects hatching in the decaying sapwood and know when to start digging. I love spring time.

Yep, I'll certainly share some of it here. I'm talking to a steel building company right now but also need to chat with some wood pole barn companies for a point of comparison. But man I love the space and height of metal buildings and want to go that way if I can afford it....

Looking into this type of building:

That’s what I wanna do for the main structure of my shop, but with post and beam interior framing for mezzanines, stair cases, etc…total fusion of the different mediums. I love and industrial feel with warmer, homier accents afterwards.
