to steel core or not to steel core

Consider that wooden rope wrench replacement... A 45* hole, maybe 9/16 or 5/8" in a stick, with a scrap of rope as a tether. Go crazy, tape a stick to the tether rope for a stiff tether.

I dont have a foot or knee accender, and really no use for mrs, but ill try it out when I get a chance, sounds like it will work great

Treesap,

How are you getting up, down and around in a tree?

Do you have a climbing rope? Are you just using your lanyard?

YO said you "..really no use for mrs" Moving rope system formerly known as DdRT has been the traditional climbing method.

that was a brain fart, I meant srt lol, I use ddrt to get up whenever I can, and when im on spikes, just a lanyard (if im on spikes its because there is zero chance I will be able to get my climbing line over a good branch

Fwiw, I've been in primarily SRT/ SRS since before the metal rope wrench, having followed Kevin's wooden wrench idea.

You can foot lock or use a foot wrap in place of a manufactured ascender.

Rope walkers are silly easy, once dialed-in.

Used gear off TreeBay can be great.
Posting an "In Search Of" ad is advisable.

yall are making me want a 250ft section of velocity lmao, most of my trees are 100-140 or so ft tall, not going up that high any time soon, but learning srt would be great

part of the reason for staying low is, my harness being a rock harness has really narrow leg loops, and cuts of circulation, do the weaver harnesses do that? i dont recall the model, but its the lower end ones sold at one of my local stores, ill go find a pic

An "In Search Of" ad on TreeBay for a used, good saddle will be money better spent that on a new, lousy saddle.

That Weaver will be a major improvement over a rock harness (I did my first medium removal in one...no need to ask if it sucked), but will be mehhh.

Too many people spend their careers trying to get out of one of those Weavers.

I've bought lots of gear on TreeBay. Known members will be happy to vouch for people we know.

once I can afford one, I will put an add out

Probably not great, but light years ahead of a rock harness.
