I did a lot of work down in the southeast part of the state, on an acreage. The turkey vultures would hunt pigeons and cats all day long. The client only had one cat left, out of 13... an older female, blind in one eye. She would never cross an open expanse of the property, instead she would stick next to the buildings and bushes where the vultures couldn't get her. They have huge wingspans and really need open areas to hunt.
For years, I never realized how much of their food they hunt. I just assumed it was almost entirely scavenged.
