Titanium vs Aluminum

I use Buckingham Steel spikes right now.....but I'd like to know what you guys think about the pro's and con's of titanium vs. aluminum spikes for future reference. Greatly appreciated.

I climbed on buck steel for a while in beginning of my career ..I settled on buck titanium after I just figured savings in weight and hardiness would be good for business ..the best thing was putting caddy pads on them.. not the lightest, but extremely hardy and comfortable that is only aluminum I have experience with on spurs ..never climbed with aluminum shanks probably wouldn't notice difference but I've never tried .Buck ti with caddy are badass though I must say . definitely will notice from steel shanks in weight feel on leg . But then again more weight more power lol

I thought about the more weight more power deal.
Why go metal when you can go gekko carbon! :) (I did think my aluminium spikes were light before...)

For me to spend that kind of money for the all in one with pads and all, I'd need to try them out without buying first. My Cadillac pads are so comfy I'd need to make sure that was the right choice for me. Though it is a nice option : )

My roper / best friend and I are die hard spearfishermen after being diehard climbers ,but after we fill our kayaks with a load of nice fish and were paddling back home the theme for the grueling paddle after getting our asses whooped from the day is more weight more power ! When the current is ripping and were gping against it I'm happy to have more weight ,more power ..I suppose I thought of it because you are Powers!

I absolutely love buckingham titaniums, with caddy pads....LOVE...I also have Distel/Gecko aluminium...which are nice and as of tomorrow will have a bolt on CT ascender...it will be a toss up...Mike if you are looking for new gaffs and love SRT removals I would be looking at the Gecko/Distels....I can hook you up with the bolt on CT ascender....

Well Titanium I can tap into and easily mount the CMI ascender like I did before, however, I'd like to mount the CT.

Swing, how is your friend bolting the CT to your spikes. I saw one picture of bolts coming in through the back, so I'm assuming he tapped/threaded the aluminum ascender. I want to try using the CT as well, but I'm a bit weary threading into the softer aluminum with the amount of force that is applied when ascending. Can you help clarify how he does this exactly...I'd love to know.

I had steel buckinghams, sold them, and now have aluminum Buckingham with velcro, I find the alloy to bulky, and preferred my steel ones...i'm sure titanium is the answer based on size, not that weight is an issue.
