Throw line/ throw weight thread

I learned double bagging from my ex.

Jk, I learned it from Flint Anderson, which... could be perceived as awkward.

It was my first comp event ever and after he double bagged two crotches for top scores I wanted to leave the comp immediately, go home, and switch jobs. I was pacing with a distilled anxiety that I have never felt before or since in sports.

Fast forward, shortly after the comp my big shot started to look sketch so I retired it. Then the best thing ever happened to me; I had to hand toss, with no backup. It's made me an uninhibited savage. I might not be the best, but I have little or no fear to hand toss into any southeastern tree. Sometimes my throws are shit, but I don't give a shit. I'm willing to throw harder than ever, and might even be more motivated to be more accurate than I ever was.

I love this. This is me to a T. Double bagging I learnt at Geezers in 2013. It opened my eyes quickly to how shit I was. I can now handtoss pretty good. Still engage a bigshot at times, but I will handtoss mostly. Comps really improved my climbing being around folk way better than I.

I know hand throwing is a good skill to have, and it's how I learned throwballs, but I haven't done it on a jobsite in at least a decade, unless I'm only setting a pull-line at like 30 feet....

Just saw some FTC Stiffline throw line that had an interesting feel. Anyone try it and have any feedback? Dyneema exterior, fishing line(?) core.

I wonder how it would be compared to Teufelberger's Shaoline throwline. Have used that and at the temperatures I use it, it was pretty stiff, although a few times I got kinks/ knots in it that were a bear to get out.

This is a great thread!
There's some really fantastic information, and I have some perfect recommendations for a new cube and throw line, which is desperately needed.

I use the big shot trigger and like seeing the creative 2-1 systems you all have made. Ive only ever used the two 4' sticks, thats been enough for 95% of what I need. For the shots where I need the max range I securely foot the bottom of the big shot, and put my entire body behind it to get it locked in. It's ok, a bit of a struggle, definitely looks ridiculous, and the 2-1s seem like a safer/more efficient way to go. Love the trigger - being able to fire it like a rifle makes the accuracy great.

Also, why doesn't anyone sell Keychain throwballs?

They sell stuffed throwball keychains. I tried one with real weight and it's too intense
