When I have a stuck line I first try to get my line free by using one of my other throwline sets.
Try to hit a crotch close and above the place where the first one got stuck.
Make sure that the stuck line and the new line are in the same spot running through the canope.
Attach a biner on the end of the second throwline and clip that around the stuck line.
Now you pull the biner up until it is reached a point over the place where the first line is stuck.
This way you have created a different angle to pull out your first throwline and this upward pull mostly frees the stuck ball.
Easy peasy.
But, as a lot of other Buzzers already told you. Better safe than sorry. Get your ball down an disconnect it before pulling a line back. Unless you are 95% sure you can get it out without disconnecting.
