This week’s Rec climb 8/6/26

I’m slowly getting back to what I love about tree climbing. Not always working but, just climbing for fun. If I can occasionally mix the two, then it satisfies my need. Elm tree no vertical leader. It’s kinda wild looking. It was an interesting climb. Removed some deadwood on the way using a sling step. I did some limb walking to the left. It was flat angle, challenging and fun. I at least got my rec climbing in. Oh it’s Hot!

Yes. The photo is deceiving because I was down hill when I took it. The top is flat. The highest branch was the deadwood I removed. The TIP was definitely not ideal and less than 45 degrees. I threw my other rope to the end of the limbwalk for safety. I then slid my lanyard along another branch. It really was more of a balancing act on the limbs. Too bad it didn’t have a great TIP, because it would be nice tree to limbwalk. Good training though.
