Yes, it has to do with the hook lining up where the release trigger is and where that locks onto where the chest tending point is. It has to do with where the swivel is, it needs to be swung all the way up and the release trigger needs to be, there’s 3 pieces meeting all in one spot so it can be a bear.

The 4:30 mark to 5:30 in this video helps alot but if you’re running a larger than 11.7 rope it does get significantly harder to get it not only in but to close as well.
 
Thanks, I have seen this video, and I get the trigger hook to engage, the pulley is engaged, and the trigger is set loose, but it will not go that last 1/4 inch to allow the detent button to pop up.
 
I’ve wondered if maybe the way the screws are torqued at the factory (what pattern or direction they are done in) affects how well it closes/opens
 
I can open and close it with no rope installed, but it now refuses to close on 11mm or my Tachyon 11.7. I notice the stud which the hook engages with is a bit loose, but the stud is already tightened to refusal.
 
I’m sure you’ve already checked but is there any rope fibers or anything stuck in that area or build up? Maybe a light blow out? I know three guys running them full time and they haven’t had the smaller diameters refuse.
If there’s any build up though it should happen always not just with rope installed. That’s a strange one

I deal with the same issue, though I’ve gotten a little better at it. The device seems a bit mercurial. I’ve also had pretty consistent slippage with my xstatic on the higher friction setting. The first five or six times I used it I had it on the less friction side of the top cam and it ran beautifully- then one day it started slipping in a scary way. It comes out for deciduous removals where I might want options and I just pay good attention to my tending. Otherwise, I’m still on a wrench for pure srt climbs and the spiderjack for pure drt climbs. Not the final solution I was hoping for but it still has improved my life.
 
I did get it to close this morning with the device lying flat on a table and the rope installed. It tends and releases so very nicely. Aside from the open/close issue, if i could change one thing, I think if the top elongated bollard had a shorter lever arm it would engage faster with less sitback upon descent and it may help it to "stick" online when slack, but that is not really a big deal.

Is that on cam A that you are getting slippage?
