This is the Akimbo

A lot of the crowdfunding sites charge ~5% on top of the 3% processing fees. There are hundreds of options including diy ones, it might be worth taking a look for something with lower fees.

You might also explore the possibility of working with one of the major equipment manufacturers (DMM, CMI, ISC Wales). However I can't imagine that would make it more affordable.

Awesome design and concept. Everything you need / want in a srt device. Would love to give one a go. Let me know what you set up (kick starter, gofundme, etc) would definitely contribute, and pay in advance for this bad boy.

Not even fully tested and deemed safe everyone wants to be guinea pigs, well it looks really cool and I definitely want one when it's fully completed and properly tested and proven

With respect, I disagree.

Even fully "tested" or deemed "safe" I doubt anyone here would just run up a tree with any tool that they are not familiar with. They would do their own testing and I would imagine quite an extensive one with an un-"tested" tool.

Maybe basic consumer with their blind faith in products but I seriously doubt this crowd.

I would like to test too! im just up north in eureka. I plan on rolling down to SB in a few weeks to do a little work for some friends, it would be cool to meet if you are still in santa cruz. ill probably stop to visit an old couchsurfing buddy for a night. favorite sushi spot in the area?

I would hope the maker does distructve testing to failure, something I would not do if I owned one.

Something like attaching 500# to the device and dropping it with 10' of slack in the rope? I can see testing such as that being useful to a point, mostly I suppose for the manual, like the RR "The Rope Runner is a work positioning tool. The Rope Runner is NOT A FALL ARREST DEVICE".

Or "The Akimbo is not a hammer and should not be used as such" :)

Personally I want to understand and know how things work, I also want to know how they fail and when they fail and what can cause it to not perform as intended. It's kind of a circle of knowledge that keeps me safe in the middle.

With that information I think I can use the tool safely.

I agree 100%
