"The view from my office."

Re: \"The view from my office.\"

Bald cypress? If so, it's a biggie. They have some huge ones in FL at Silver Springs. I'd say 120' or more. Too bad they surrounded them in pavement for parking! /forum/images/graemlins/bur2.gif /forum/images/graemlins/zbanghead.gif

I wonder if any of them are still there? Anyone been there in the last few years?

Silver Springs near Ocala? I was there just after Frances. I didn't see any trees over about 80' though.

Re: \"The view from my office.\"

Heres a shot of the St. Paul skyline that I took doing a crane job a couple years back. Was a 55" silver maple that had partially failed and landed on the house. The crane was a 250 ton truck crane, so big that all of the counterweights came on another truck, a big lowboy.

I didn't get to see them. I did see one of these though. The owner of Windermere landscaping found it in his yard.

Re: \"The view from my office.\"

Mark - It wasnt quite 300ft of stick but it was alot. From where I took that photo was one of the closest leads to the crane, except for what fell on the house. Most of the tree was even another 50-75 ft behind me, so yes it was quite a reach.

Here is another one- the last piece of one of the front leaders going out, you can see another 2-3 leaders, left to go.

Mountains in my window

The picture isn't real clear but over on the right is part of the mountains that I see from my desk. The mornings are generally clear but the haze drops in around lunch time. When I'm out in the yard I can see more mountains. The snowline is coming down a little now.

Re: Mountains in my window

The haze, back in the early-to-mid eighties, when viewed from the direction of the Eisenhower Tunnel, was like what Jimi Hendrix sang about. I never understood the allure of living in it when coming from up by Steamboat to Lowry AFB to visit my kid brother...

Re: \"The view from my office.\"

Thanks guys for continuing to add pics on this thread but I'm not sure we all want to see each others offices, could get a bit boring! The idea of the thread was "office" being the tree tops where we work. There's been some great ones so far and plenty more to come I'm sure. Has anyone tried using a camera on a cell phone to take pics up a tree? Could be handier than carrying a camera up there. I'll give it a go some time, although the lens is always covered in dust from my pockets.

Nice to see TB in your office :)

Lately, my office view has been from my desk or through the windshield. I can only wish that I was up in a tree :)

Re: \"The view from my office.\"

This is right outside my office window. The home is run by a crew of bangers. The police are there at least once a mounth it seems. They also have a contract with a private company the paints over it pretty fast. This tag only lasted about 36 hours before it was cleaned up.
