i think trees are missunderstood; perhaps even sum by us; that have taken Doc Shigo's invitation to "Touch Trees"; let alone the common (wo)man.
i've tried to metaphorically personify tree functions, to show a great inanimate beast, striving to claim territory, compete and live; as any other. That is what pages like Soil Protection purport to be about on my web sight.
The Secret Life of Trees is a fresh start, to this same end. i'm beginning with a solitary tree; like a dynamic Live Oak to fit these charachterizations; that folks might have in their own yard.
i always look to these great Live Oaks in my region, as having superiour CODIT and territorial functions; as an extreme that other trees should reach for, and fall short of. Then rate other tree's progress, and strategies against this benchmark.
i plan on showing a trimmed canopy next, and how this violates, and is double losses for these shown strategies; in single trees. Then, how a group of trees individually may assume the trimmed tree's look, but has so much else on it's side; that it is maximizing to a different set of circumstances.
i want to follw mulch/ sea of soil in this too; for this great best can't move to richer territory, so will try to make it's own where it is at. Also, follow the water path; how it splits at the leaf from the sun like us splitting positive and negative apart from magnets in a generator, then the water becoming the ground elemeant. As in other things, the power for our tree device, comes at the re-joining of these opposites(in the leaf as water runs up from the ground).
Orrrrrrrr somethang likes'dat!
