back to keep the machine from going over the front.

Did you get the counter weights???? One thing you have to keep in mind the ram rod has alot of power 1500 pounds for the full size, thats twice the power the others have. For that you need the counter weights they sell. Besides that the ramer will lift it 7.5 feet while others only go 5-6 ft, that is the differance of getting over the side of a big dump truck rather then stack and push the load.

Funny though you say 3 guys to counter, other versions, after 2 guys it can't pick the load.

ouch! Holly....seriously?

I've heard nothing but bad when it comes to the RamRod, plus they have a reputation of not standing behind their product.

REALLY! Jim I would swear by your words anytime, but, I have to say I've never had a problem with any ram rod I've run. The Bobcat ugghhh, the toro, rather just tote it by log cart, the vermeer same as their chippers good some days others bah.

A one of a kind once in a lifetime, Greg Good custom Hydraulic GRCS/Branch Manager Grapple Mount Winch system.
Minis they Grab, they Rake, they winch and much much more!

This job we called Hamburger hill, A different way to carry/lift a mini. This job was a loser but the mini made it less of a loser

Looking down, short of a crane, Clam got her up there to finish this nightmare job

I have been a Thomas dealer
Damm good affordable minis, they went Bankrupt

Then I became a Ramrod Dealer
there old 900's damm good machine (Thomas & Finn Copied that design) Have you ever fired one of your Tree Customers for being jerks and unreasonable?
I fired them, worst Biz relationship I ever had, Jimmy speaks of only part of their issues. 2 bad . . . they are not bad machines, a little overpriced and their specs are highly suspect

Now I hooked my wagon to Boxer, very good specs, well built. Fairly priced, fast ground speed, incredible lift, only Mfg with a collapsing track on their 500 models.

My opinion
Vermeer overpriced,
Dingos wheels OK, very easy controls when you are a rookie, I don't recommend the walk behinds Bobcat MT's included,
Finn another Bankrupt excellent mini, used? cheap? I would buy one (There are sources for aftermarket Hydraulic parts for all these machines)

Ditch witch walk behinds don't like them, never run one though

If you don't need to load logs (you have a Clam) The Ditch Witch Zahn is the best unknown Mini out there. The only stand on Articulating mini(that I know of)under 36" wide and Duals are available, I actually don't want to tell you guys about them, cons . . . worst lift height specs, most likely tippy without duals

I had the thomas....

I didnt like it. The tires would always deflate.

I had the vermeer.

I liked it but neither of them worked really well in the south where we have really big trees.

My t300 works great.

I always foam filled my tires we never got flats, foam filling is well worth the cost . . . flats on the job big PIA and cost
What about the Vermeer did you like over the Thomas?

If the major percentage of your work is large removals, minis may not be your cup of tea. Obviously the bigger the machine the bigger wood you can haul out. Always bring your biggest Iron to a monster Tree. As with any Style/Size Equipment they all have there advantages and disadvantages

A mini may take a little longer, but it can get the job done, kicks azz on a ball cart. I have done many jobs like this with a ball cart, pre my mini days . . . oh stupid tree man

A large machine would not go through this opening, this also shows a "skid" type grapple advantage over a "bucket" style grapple

Vermeer is the high priced one of the bunch but you get what you pay for.I haven't wieghed the logs we pick up,it sure has surpassed all my expectations!Vermeers grapple is ok,do your homework look at all of the grapples on the market they all offer different options but remember the more wieght you add to the grapple(bollard, winch, hyd. rotator)on the mini it cuts down on your lift capacity some what.

Holly i threw my two cents in before i read all of the posts i went to the ramrod site maybe i am reading it wrong looks like the 1150 taskmaster has a lifting hieght of 66 in. every day of the week thats 5'6" right?

[ QUOTE ]
SSSSSorry Ed i did read it wrong it's 72in. and vermeer is only 79in.

Boxer 500 series 76" pin height, & 2100# operating Capacity
400 series 70" , 1800# operating Capacity
300 series 70" , 1250# operating Capacity

I also have the Vermeer S600. When I bought it there wasn't a tracked version. If you know what you are doing you can avoid turf damage with either type. Most of our business is in small city properties, so a mini works great. If I was mainly working in a country or suburban setting then I would be interested in a larger machine. I bought a Terra grapple bucket for it and really like it.
