The Hoeflon C10

Sounds like you put a lot of material on the ground today. Thanks for the post. What an amazing last photo. Keep the content coming.
It was a very productive day, overall. And thank you! I promise to keep it coming. Since this thread began, well over a handful of folks have called to talk about the crane. It may catch on in the right parts of the country.

Please enjoy. While making this post was relatively easy, it’s been difficult to make time to sort and organize all the photos I have of this machine in use. Thanks for your patience, as I’ve been promising to make this thread for a while.

So far, it’s been mostly trouble free for a full year. If anyone wants to rap about it, I’ll be spending some time with the UPEquip booth at TCIA Expo in Indianapolis. My brother will be there as well…the big hair show in the Lift. I’ll have my iPad equipped with a full album of photos and cool videos.

Cheers, everyone!
Do you have any videos you can send and does the remote show weights being lifted?

I do have some videos.

Yes, there is a LMI. It shows 3 bits of related data in the bottom right corner of the screen.
1 - Capacity (Kg) in the current boom position.
2 - Load (Kg) currently on the hook.
3 - A horizontal bar graph representing the percentage of current load to capacity. if capacity is 1000 Kg, and load is 500 Kg, the bar will be half way colored yellow and also display 50 %. The last 10 % of the bar (90 - 100) is colored orange. Above 100 becomes red and the only function that works is main boom retract. There is a 110% button on the remote allowing you to override in non-critical situations.

The info given by the machine is incredible. It allows you to see what you just picked and then easily estimate the weight of other sections of the same tree. I usually pick around 50% of capacity, but this will also depend on how far away the LZ is, and what obstacles may be in between. If I can reach the LZ at full horizontal (or the chipper infeed), I aim for about 500 # (220 Kg) pieces.

I’m sure this is in the 5 pages, but what was the price?!
My particular machine happens to be the only one in North America…at the moment. It was a demo unit, brought to trade shows, etc. Luckily for me, nobody bit, so I closed the deal a shade under &200,000. That’s including every option a tree guy would want. Depending on options, a new one will vary.

You’ll notice I folded the jib back onto the main for that pick. The process takes less than 5 minutes, but totally worth it for a trunk like that one. The jib was on until we got to the section where the crown originated. The first piece that came off the trunk was about 4’ long and contained all those unions. It was 2,800 lbs. It still blows me away how much crotch wood weighs.

Oh man could really use that thing at the moment... We got hit with a storm so sever that the gov declared it a disaster. The island was ground 0, and the canuk power crews are coming to help restore power in the coming days.

Looking forward to seeing it again at expo and my biz partner Dan will be able to see it in person as well

Good luck out there and be safe, old treebuzz friend!
