The Arduous Pack Test

I've yet to pass the the self administered test, treework gets in the way too much and I can't pass it without training some. I think being a faller on fires or afterward would be an awesome thing to do. I suspect I have the skill having done alot of logging in the past but it ain't going to happen at my age, 65

Used to work on a shot crew. Was always impressed by the older fallers; they moved slower, but efficiently. None of the wasted energy us younger folks would burn up throwing our saws around.

As for the pack test, we always did it on a track with a weighted vest. Always made my shins sore; so different from real world hiking. You can do it! Get a bit of training in then pick a pace and stick it out. Falling on fires can be good fun.
