Just an observation but you could lesson the number of wedges and I don't know what the slope was like for the lay but if it was down hill I would have opted for an open face notch or humboldt instead of the conventional.
Yes the plan called for an open face notch, which I define as 70-90 degree. If you print the attached photo and measure, tree 1 is about 65 degrees, tree 2 only 55 degrees.

The face notch closing on tree 1 may have contributed to the fiber pull, and the butt laying so far away from the stump.
Did not affect the ultimate goal here of dropping them in the field for cleanup.
