Tachyon

[ QUOTE ]
I saw Tachyon when Mark C. was here for the IAA conf. & i was sold on it! Who's got it in stock?

[/ QUOTE ]

Charly Pottorff (Charly's International) had a spool of it. I think he said the price was 0.87/foot.

his #: 785-537-9821

He is in Manhattan KS.

For those of you who are climbing on the Tachyon currently, which hitch cord do you think runs the best with it? I just bought a hank, and was wondering???

This is true Nick. I guess I might just be a little excited about the new rope. Hehe

I got to climb on my tachyon this weekend, and I was very impressed.

Very slick rope, and super light weight! I am using HRC for my hitch cord, and I felt it worked well.

I would like to try beeline on it, just to see how it feels. As it stands, this is my first rope that is not 1/2 inch safety blue or orange, so it feels like a ferrari to me.

I give it two thumbs up!

SZ- send me the rope and I'll try the beeline on it and let you know how it goes! :)

I got the splicing directions and they look interesting. I can't wait to give it a shot!

Hey Nick, could you send me those directions? I spliced a Tachyon lanyard using Toss's double braid instructions. The only difference was I removed the 'sacrificial core' for the length of the splice. It came out nice.

So far, I like 24 strand lanyards better than anything else I've tried.

The inner core gives the rope a firmer feel.

Those are not the directions I was faxed the other day. I'll have to take a closer look and see if they end up the same. My first piece of Tachyon is on the way from Charly!!!

Just got my tachyon in the other day, and it is pretty nice. It feels alot like the fly, but stiffer.

Only downside is the large eye splice needs to be girthed.

I wonder why they would still splice large eyes, the little ones are much cleaner. Is it just the preference of the splicer??

Anyway, I was flaking it out in my backyard and feeding into a ropebag. As I got to the end my cat jumped out of nowhere and went after the eye!!

Almost had gato tacos for lunch today.

R&T,
Must just be the splicer's choice. A tight eye isn't hard with Tachyon. Easier than Poison Ivy to me, because when you cut out that little stretch of core you have some more room inside the jacket to tuck and bury.

Dang..I really wish it had a tight eye, but I suppose I'll just live with it. (Next time I'll make sure and specify)
Thanks for the reply blinky.. oh, and your lorax needs some visine.

I love my Tachyon!

It's a very slick rope, super light, and burning out of a tree is a pleasure!

I am very happy with this rope, and I give it two handsaws up in the air.

you could whip the large eye to tighten it up

try a castrating band, they work well too (it may seem familiar)
