Sugoi or Zubat?

Silky Sugoi or Silky Zubat, what is your preference?
I started with a zubat because i got the zubat polesaw and figured having the same blade on my handsaw might come in handy. then i tried the Ibuki and i went back to the zubat. then I tried the komisorime and went back to the zubat. now i need a new blade and im eye balling the Sugoi. am i just going to dig the zubat handle out again when it gets dull?

Sounds like Zubat. I LOVE mine its all I use. Its good for bigger stuff but you can grab it for smaller pruning too.

douse sound like the zubat. just hoping to save a few strokes on bigger cuts i thought the extra couple inches and more aggressive teeth would make the difference on the others but all i noticed was that it seemed to get dull quicker and i had to keep the smaller saw around for the little stuff. Though ive been thinking of getting a little folding blade I can throw in my pouch.

Zubat has been by my side, actually, on my knee, for years. If I have a tree with a few large cuts I'll bring along the Sugoi. If the large cuts are low and inside the tree, which is usually the case, I'll have the S sent up just like I would a chainsaw for the larger cuts. To me, the Sugoi is too big for all-around pruning.

If i remember correctly the zubat is hardened steel and the others aren't I'm not sure which ones are but there is a difference between them. That might be making the difference.

I use to use the Sugoi and agree it is alittle big. It did perform well on bigger diameter branches though.

Ive been using the Gomtaro and like the size of it. Performs real well on fine pruning jobs ans can get into those tight spaces.

Iv'e never used the Zubat but always wanted to. Sounds like a great all around hand saw.

I have a modified one that I use for the Z on my knee. It works a lot like the Saw Pod. I made mine using heavy duty elastic webbing and large Fastex buckles.

The S hangs from a short cord which is clipped to my harness in the usual fashion.

I've got a Zubat gorilla taped to my Sugoi, on my leg. The damn hook on the handle of the Sugoi gets caught once in a while on rope, but no biggie.

I have a Zubat strapped on. I think it goes on after my helmet. Should post picts on the leg straps I put on.

We have one area on campus that we try to not use chainsaws, and that's the time I'll strap on the Sugoi in a yellow scabbard and then the Zubat over it [check the archives for this config]. Sugoi is pretty much for limbs over 3" and limbing up brush.

Similarly, with pole saws. The Longboy comes into the tree as it has the same tooth set as the Zubat, 8 teeth per inch. I prefer the mid-sized Hayuchi for from-the-ground work, with its 6 teeth per inch.

got a new blade on the Zubat. its just a great saw. great saw. No need to replace it and the only thing bigger one needs has a motor. just need to pick up some stretchy velcro.
I got a gomboy medium tooth folder to throw in my man purse havnt done any pruning with it yet but it douse appear to be more saw than i was expecting.

At the ISA conference the topic of handsaws came up. A couple of us were extolling the virtues of Silky products compared with distant #2 saws.

I new word was coined to describe what Silky's don't do. Other saws get a vibe going that makes a noise and tends to vibrate and jam [in the cut. I described it as:

The Buhwangadang Vibe.

Silky does not have buhwangadang.

This is buhwangadang...imagine...

you can get the zubat in the same length as the sugoi, just without the pesky hook on neither the handle nor the blade. i think treestuff sells the long zubat. i use this saw and i love it so much i want to take it behind the middle school and get it preggers.
