Thanks! Yall are cooler than the folks on MountainProject, my other usual hangout. I used to be a wee little groundling under Mac, and TP is Tim Parsons, the Middlebury College arborist riding around with Mac when he lost his rope. I think we’ve all done something stupid around Tim at some point or other, but he’s a real cool guy and a fellow UVM alum.

When I see trees like that lyingbon the ground I always wonder why no one recognized the condition before it fell

Here ya go Tim, and a different angle, a little washed out. If he'll ever send it to me, my coworker has a great vid of me riding a knuckle boom pick off the roof- this tree was a beast and started rolling the last couple cuts. This job was outside our normal range, came to us via Timer Warriors. I think economics played a role in this one not being addressed until it smashed literally everything it possibly could- new phase wires and a brand spankin' news transformer overhead too!

The same reason that people (against their better judgement) let the serial killer talk their way into their apartment. While their subconscious mind is telling them that something's not quite right...they let their conscious mind, which doesn't want to admit to near proximity to catastrophe, soothe them with thoughts like "It's really not that bad." "Don't overthink this." "Don't be paranoid." etc.
