Stump grinder finds Civil War cannon ball

My boss's brother's crew was stump grinding at the mall in front of Independence Hall in Philadelphia last week. They found a cannon ball!

Very cool. Tania used to live in Philly and remembers when the trees were removed from the Independance Hall area, when the Liberty Bell was moved. She was bummed out when it happened, and said that people used to practice Tai Chi and such amongst the trees. Of course we don't know all the circumstances, but finding a cannonball sure is cool. I would have guessed they weighed more than a few pounds.

My nephew has a degree in archiology and worked for a company doing a dig on that ground. Wonder why he missed it. Tree roots are no excuse.
