Stihl MS200-Greatest Saw Ever!

Is the Stihl MS200 the Greatest Arb Chainsaw ever created?

How could Stihl make this saw even better?

What about the plastic casing round the muffler/exhaust? why does it show signs of melting and scorching after a certain time? is that a design fault?

Could it be lighter? would this be a good thing?

Bigger fuel tank? Bigger oil tank?

What about making the back of the saw more rounded or oval so that when you pull it up through the tree it doesn't get caught up as much amongst the branches?

Could the black plastic break be smaller?

Does it need more power?

In short, Is the current MS200 the finished article?

Make the saw with closed transfer ports would be my first thing I would want but this is going to give it more power so maybe they donot want that

Yes! I believe it is the best trim saw ever!

Actually, I would call the ms192t the best trim saw, and the 200 the best TD saw.

What was the diam of that stem where you made the cut?

It looks real heavily weighted on the fell direction side, did you have to chase through with the back cut?

Looking at that photo I would just have assumed you were using a Stihl 46 or Huskvarna 385.

My computer screen is very small.......cant make out the saw at all.

Can you blow up this photo?

I think it would be a good thread to run...Dropping big tops, tie in techniques when felling a top out etc.

I guess it was about 20 inches across where I topped it. Here's a bigger pic.

The ride? No ride here, I don't let the catapult effect bite me. Once I start cutting I don't back off. ;)

Open and closed transfer ports. The red shows the difference in the transfers ports.

Jug on left is from a 020T, MS 200 same thing. The jug on the right is from a saw the 020T's and 200's replaced a 020 Super.

The 200's have the shortest stroke of any chainsaw in this class that I have seen, which I am assuming gives the saw it's fast chain speed, if EHP says they would have more power with a closed transfer, a guy would have a regular little firecraker running in your hands. The only time I have seen a 200 get a little doggy so to speak is when you have the bar buried in some hardwood, it doesn't slow it down all that much but it is noticeable, there isn't too many saws in this class that could keep up with a 200 buried in wood or not and still keep chugging along.

Kind of like a Timex watch, takes a licking and keeps on ticking or in this case cutting.

Just my 02 cents.

I love my MS200. About the only thing I would change is the attachment point. I clip a carabiner to it and clip that carabiner to a ladder hook on my belt. If it had a circular ring attached right to the body, I could clip it closer to my saddle. Other than that, maybe a laser site would be cool.

He doesn't like the price tag.......
Everyone I have known that says they like there Husky is because they have not owned Stihls or dont like the price tag of owning a Stihl.

And there is the fact that all the Stihl dealers around here have VERY shitey customer service and an "elitest" attitude.

I have heard the Stihl sales reps. are jerks too. I can't think of another tool I have that can pay for itself as fast as a MS200 can.
