Stihl MS192 or Echo 360T anygood?(first climbsaw)

Re: Stihl MS192 or Echo 360T anygood?(first climbs

maybe in wood where the nose isn't buried the smaller chain is faster, but if the tip is buried the chips will pack up alot faster causing you to ether ream the cut or pull out and restart. its the same on a big saw. i got an 066 with a 36" bar an eighties model i got from my dad. i put a 3/8" pitch chain on it no skip. what a mistake, the saw kept getting fouled all the time. a friend of mine and mentor (he has been in the big tree removal business since 74) told me to put a .404 with a full skip back on the saw. all i have to say is wow what a difference. the saw never jams and man does it cut. although if you were to take the 3/8 pitch chain and run it versus the 404 in a 30 in log the 3/8 would win but in everyday work the chip cleaning and larger clearances of the 404 smoke the 3/8pitch. cause slow is smooth and smooth is fast.

I can see that. Makes sense.

I've been running a 28" 3/8pitch on my old 064 that came with a 32" bar with .404. Maybe I would be better to go back to the standard sprocket with the larger chain for better clearing instead of the 3/8" 28" bar with an extra driver hole on the sprocket (I was figuring I would benefit in more speed). Should be interesting to see the difference. I'll try that sometime. Thanks for that info, Jeff.

replaced my bar on my echo today. i bought a better bar from baileys. im now running a Husqvarna .50 x .325 pixel bar. alot smoother then the echo bar and weighs alot less.

After continuous use of the MS192, the exhaust cover will melt due to it being plastic. That's the only thing I don't like about it but other than that its a great lightweight saw. I've only used one Echo top handled saw and I didn't care for it.

echo rocks. yess i said it. i use a 360T and after you muffler mod it and take the carb limiters out, it is an amazing saw for $300. echo has really stepped up with their saw designs.
the MS192T has a lot of issues like mentioned above with the plastic melting around the muffler. i have not heard as many problems with the 360 as much as i have with a 192. in fact for every 10 problems i hear about the 192 i only hear 2 about the echos.

You know why that is. For ever 2 echos you got 10 192's out there.

I have always been told by people in the know to stir clear of the 192's even when I could buy them for $100-$150 as back ups.

So far I haven't fell for the 192 trap.

my fellow worker bought a 192 an he is not satified, he told me he wishes he would of got a ms200T top handle..
the 200t is what we use at our jobsite... as for the echo 360 for the price its a good saw... if your going to buy a trim saw dont go cheap get the goods MS200 rear handel cause if you get the top handle people tend to one hand a lot so stick with what you know if the 360 is workin for ya keep on workin if you like something else get it everyone different... good climbing an be safe
