my chainsaw mechanic said the stihls have trouble like this because of there reed valves ... good luck !

If the 201 is anything like the 200 then there are no reed valves. Most saws nowadays are piston ported.

Not sure where the earlier posts are, could be a different thread or over at Treehouse.com. No real info in those other posts beyond that some guys experience random high idling on the 201s. As I mentioned, a new carb helped one of mine and I'm going to bring the other one in for the same treatment cuz it is an unadjustable piece of junk as it stands now.
